I am up in Scotland now for the start of my winter season. I arrived on Sunday night and kicked off our five day winter skills course yesterday with some pretty wild weather. We have spent both days so far this week at the Nevis Range. Yesterday we walked up as the gondola was closed due to the high winds and we utilised the snow in the back corries. Today we enjoyed a ride up and traversed over Aonach Mor and Aonach Beag, utilising the neve we found along the way to refresh key winter skills from yesterday. We also added a bit of navigation and ice axe arrest today. There is not much snow for the time of year but what is here is great for teaching and we had enough fresh snow yesterday to make the mountains start to look wintery again today.
