I got lucky today as a blue sky day coincided with a day off and since we have had some fresh snow over the last couple of days I dusted the skis off for the first outing of the season. I plumped for Beinn Teallach (towards Creag Meghidh) as I knew that the mountain gives a good ski with little snow.
The top has a slight bowl that collects snow nicely and today this gave me some nice wind affected firmness where I was able to put some turns in.
Below that the gentle grass and heather slopes allow sliding as long as you are happy with minimal cover and so I was able to get 600m of descent. It would have seemed highly unlikely this time last week and goes to show how quickly things can change.
Huw has been out with regular client Tina for some private guiding. It has been a beautiful day with no wind and the lovely pastel colours that we get with the winter sunshine at this time of year.
