Last week was half term here in Wales at it coincided with a week off for me after our trip to Torridon and Norway. It also coincided with the arrival of my new paragliding wing so I managed to get out and get my first flights in the sunshine! In December I went out and did a course with Fly Spain to realise an ambition to be able to climb up stuff and then fly back down. The course was excellent and last week saw me get my first eleven flights under my own steam – just on smaller stuff for now whilst I build my experience. Its a brilliant way to add a new dimension to the time I enjoy out in the hills and I always like learning new skills.

My mate Bryn on his wing as we practise on small hills in the Northern Carneddau.

With temperatures around 20 degrees last week it felt like summer and we also got a bit of climbing done between flying and trips out with the family. It felt like sport climbing in Spain!

Me on the slate – remembering Colin Goodey a year after his passing by climbing a selection of his routes in the quarries.

I also had a lovely day out walking on the Long Mynd. It was my Dads birthday this week and it coincided with a teacher training day for the older boys so we were all able to enjoy a day out walking. 13 miles nearly broke the teenagers but was a short day for Granny & Grandad!

Heading towards our first summit
Skye enjoyed the walk too!

I am off unto Scotland this weekend for the last two weeks of our winter season. Its looking like winter has made a welcome return to the mountains so I had better get my big coat back out!
