What have previous clients said?
Hi Rob, Just wanted to say thanks for the weekend, I really enjoyed it and certainly learnt what I wanted to. I am definitely considering a Scottish winter course with you for next February. Thanks again and hope to see you in Scotland soon.

Winter Skills Weekend Course in Snowdonia - Course Content

Location: Snowdonia
Price: £145 per person
Ratio: 1:6
Length: 2 days

Who is the course suitable for?
This course is ideal for anyone that wants to be self sufficient in the mountains of the UK all year round. You shoud have experience of walking in the mountains in summer conditions and we will teach you the additional skills that are required to stay safe in the winter.

What does the course cover?
The winter conditions in Wales can be a little fickle. The idea of the course is to look at the skills that you would require to make the most of an average winter day in Wales. If you want to spend two days in the snow then consider our Scottish winter skills course. If there is snow and ice on the mountains then we will use it, if there is not then we will still run the course and spend two full days out in the mountains looking at:
- Navigation in poor visibility - approx. 70% of accidents in winter are due to poor navigation
- Choice of axe and crampons
- How to use and carry the ice axe
- How to fit crampons and when to use them
- Terrain and route choice
- Winter equipment selection
- Two full days out in the mountains

Where is the course held?
We run the course in Snowdonia and will spend both days out in the mountains. The mountains of Snowdonia are easily accessable and offer a huge variety of terrain to play on.

What about accommodation?
We do not include accommodation with this course. For a variety of different accommodation options in Snowdonia, from camping to nice hotels, visit this link.

What is included in the course cost?
The course fee includes the instruction only. When you book you will receive a set of course notes and a comprehensive kit list.

We have a limited range of ice axes and crampons which can be lent out on a first come first served basis if there is enough snow and ice to require them. You will require your own winter boots - full details will be provided in the course notes.
