Johnsons Expedition Guides is owned and run by Rob Johnson. Rob runs nearly all of the courses himself and is one of the most highly qualified instructors in the UK. We run instructional courses across the UK according to the seasons but specialise in Snowdonia, the Isle of Skye and the West Highlands of Scotland. We also run climbing and trekking trips across Europe with venues including the Picos De Europa, Costa Blanca, Norway, Switzerland and the French Alps. Every year we also head further afield to mountain regions such as the Himalaya, Africa or the States.

Our emphasis is on teaching you the skills you need to become a self-sufficient mountaineer. We run instructional courses and guided trips to some of the most beautiful locations in the world and want to inspire you to appreciate them as much as we do.

Streams where I collect my drinking water in summer become ice climbs in winter, the melting of the snows brings the excitement of new life in the spring and the promise of warm rock in summer sunshine. Te be a part of these wild places, to be a mountaineer, scaling great heights, pushing our comfort zone so that we know what it really feels to be alive, that is what expeditionguide is about. I have compiled a range of courses and trips to help you progress through the skills that are needed to stay safe in these fantastic places. There should be something for everyone, whatever ability level you start from. The key is progression, the ability to join a course, head off into the hills and build on the knowledge you have gained and then come back and learn some more.

This is not a big company website, it is my compilation of the courses that I offer. When you call it will probably be me that answers the phone, or rings you back if you get the answerphone, and that is our strength. You are not just another name, as you dip in and out of my courses you will become a familiar face and shared experiences can be remembered and enjoyed".
