| All about me! |
 |
It feels slightly odd to write about yourself, who is going to be reading it, should I write a long list of the climbs that I have done or are you interested in the fact that I am married and have 3 kids?
The photo shows me on belay in the Llanberis Pass which is one of my favourite places to go climbing.
I was lucky to be born to parents who loved (and still love) the mountains. Every family holiday as a child was spent in the mountains and I took up rock climbing as a teenager. I had a spell doing a proper job, I qualified as a Chartered Surveyor when I was 24, but now work full time as an instructor.
I go climbing, mountaineering, hillwalking etc in most of my free time and consider myself very lucky to be able to make a living doing something I love. If you are interested in what I have done in my own free time then take a look at my gallery or BLOG. I have climbed around the world, make regular visits to the Alps and enjoy all weathers!
Qualifications wise I hold the MIA, ML (W) and IML awards. I have also done my MIC training. If that means nothing to you then you can read an explanation here. I am also the current secretary of AMI (The Association of Mountaineering Instructors). I am a full member of AMI, BAIML (British Association of International Mountain Leaders) and MLTA (Mountain Leader Training Association).

| Other Instructors - and Kate |
|
I work with other instructors on a regular basis. My main requirements are that they are regular climbers for themselves and that they hold one of the professional qualifications (MIA, MIC or BMG).
You may also speak with my wife Kate. Kate has a full time job looking after our 3 children as well as answering the phone and dealing with enquiries whilst I am out on the hill! She is a keen walker and used to come climbing with me when we were still trying to impress each other. Now she has a ring on her finger she doesn't climb! |
