I am a full time instructor living in the mountains of North Wales with my wife, Kate and our 4 children.
I am lucky to have climbed around the world and seen many beautiful places but I am always pleased to be home in the mountains of North Wales.
I was lucky to be born to parents who loved (and still love) the mountains. Every family holiday as a child was spent in the mountains and I took up rock climbing as a teenager. I had a spell doing a proper job, I qualified as a Chartered Surveyor when I was 24, but now work full time in the mountains.
I go climbing, mountaineering, hillwalking etc in most of my free time and consider myself very lucky to be able to make a living doing something I love. If you are interested in what I have done in my own free time then take a look at my gallery or BLOG. I have climbed around the world, make regular visits to the Alps and enjoy all weathers!I have made a list of some of my favourite climbs, with photos and a description here.
Qualifications wise I hold the MIC and IML awards. If that means nothing to you then you can read an explanation here. I am a full member and past secretary of AMI (The Association of Mountaineering Instructors), full member of BAIML (British Association of International Mountain Leaders) and MLTA (Mountain Leader Training Association).
I am also a member of the Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team and I have a young Collie (see below) that I am training to work as a SARDA search dog. I am a regular contributor to various magazines in the outdoor press. You can read some of my articles and clients testimonials here.

Twid is based part of the year in Chamonix and runs Ski Mountaineering, Alpine Climbing and Alpine Mountaineering courses.
We run occasional Alpine trips together as well as trips further afield and can arrange bespoke Alpine courses to meet your requirements. These courses are generally mailed out on my mailing list so if you are interested then drop me an email.
Skye
Skye is a border Collie born in January 2009. I am training her to be a Search and Rescue Dog through SARDA Wales.
She often joins us on our hillwalking and navigation courses as she enjoys a good walk. The photo shows her aged 5 months old in the back of the Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team Landrover on a team training day.
She is being trained as an air scenting dog and her role will be to find missing people using the power of her nose. At the moment she just enjoys playing with a tennis ball! You can read more about her on her Dog Blog.
