International Mountain Leader Preparation Week

Who is the course suitable for?
This course is for anyone preparing for the International Mountain Leader summer assessment.
What does the course cover?
The preparation week follows the same format as the IML Assessment and takes place over four days, with two nights in mountain huts. We will provide refresher training on the following aspects of the syllabus:
Personal movement skills
Use of the rope and dealing with fixed equipment
Route choice, hazard awareness and management in a variety of terrain
Organising clients in overnight accommodation
We will also try and provide an opportunity for refresher training on summer snow patches – assuming we find snow!
Who Runs the Course?
The week will be run by Rob Johnson MIC & IML and Sandy Paterson MIC & IML.
Between us we have more than 15 years of working as International Mountain Leaders all around the world and have worked on IML training and assessment courses at both National Centres. We are both MTUK course directors for the ML scheme and additionally have experience on all of the NGB awards between us, right up to MIC training and assessment courses. Perhaps even more importantly we are both active IML’s working overseas on a regular basis each year in a wide variety of locations.
The course price includes instruction only. You will need to to arrange your own transport and accommodation and we will meet in the village of Les Angles on the first morning of the course.
