" Hi Rob - I just arrived home, and after the compulsory bragging and exaggerating to Teresa, I wanted to write and thank you for the wonderful experiences this week. There were some wonderful highlights, not least of which was the delight I felt at finishing Great Western, Dinas Mott at your encouragement. All week I felt totally safe, and confident in your abilities to guide and protect me, thank you so very much. Thanks Rob, for everything. Best regards Bill R"

Rope Skills for rock climbing & grade 2/3 scrambling - Course Content

Location: Snowdonia
Price: £45 per person per day
Ratio: 1:6
Length: 1 or 2 days

We can offer a discount for groups.

Who is the course suitable for?
Anyone who would like to invest in a day or two of instruction on rope skills to stay safe whilst climbing or mountaineering. The first day is a basic rope skills day whilst the second day looks at how to solve problems when things go wrong, for instance in the horrible situation when a partner has an accident in a multi pitch setting. Both days are ideal for anyone wanting to pursue the SPA or MIA awards as well as for personal climbing & mountaineering. (This is not a learn to lead course, it is based at a single pitch crag venue and is focused on rope skills rather than climbing).

What does the course cover?

You can choose to join us for either of the days or both of them.

Rope Skills Day:

We will visit a single pitch crag venue and spend the day looking at any of the following:
Building single and multi pitch belays that are in reach and out of reach.
Building top rope systems.
Lowering a climber to the ground.
Holding a fall.
Using direct and indirect belays.
Double rope technique.
Protecting abeils.
Building efficient retrievable abseils.
Abseiling in a multi pitch setting.

Problem Solving Day:

We will visit a single pitch crag venue and spend the day looking at:
Solving problems such as:
Stuck climber.
Ascending a rope.
Accompanied abseils.
Escaping from the system.
Dealing with an unconcious second
Lowering past a knot
Hoisting - useful for crevasse rescue, haul bags or hoisting an injured or stuck second.

By request we can also look at specific skills for SPA & MIA such as organising group releasable abseils.

Where is the course held?
We run the course in Snowdonia.

What about accommodation?
