What have previous clients said?
"I just wanted to say thank you for a great couple of days. The instruction was superb, as was the choice of routes. I feel I have learnt a lot. What I'm still amazed at is that you managed to find a deserted area on Bank Holiday Monday!!!! Fantastic. Anyway, thanks again. All the best, Mark". May 07

"Just a quick note to say a big thank you for the weekend.  So many memories, I'm finding it hard to concentrate at work today.  The scrambling was excellent, the snow an added bonus and I'm now totally hooked. You may make a mountaineer out of me yet!" Mandy April 06

"Just wanted to say thank you again for a fantastic weekend. Chris and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and felt, at all times, confident and comfortable in your very capable hands. I'm sure we will use ExpeditionGuide again in the future." Tim - April 2005

"Great, great weekend. Everyone got a lot out of it (I even managed to escape an ear bashing from our lass so she must have enjoyed it too!!) Marc - Tailored course scrambling, climbing and navigation Aug 04.

"Hi Rob. Just a quick line to say thanks for a cracking couple of days. It was exactly what we needed - great instruction and great fun (which is something coming from somebody who has never seen any attraction in rock climbing - it's for nutters isn't it?) I hope to be back for more in the future." Jeff - May 05

Intro to Scrambling Course in Snowdonia - Course Content

Location: Snowdonia
Price: £130 per person
Ratio: 1:3
Length: 2 days

Who is the course suitable for?
As a summer hillwalker you enjoy the mountain environment and now want to begin to tackle some of the fine ridges and gullies that they have to offer. To gain the confidence to stroll along airy ridges with stunning views dropping away on either side is to open up a whole new playground! If you are feeling confident as a summer hillwalker, and would like to explore steeper ground then this intro to scrambling course is the one for you.

What does the course cover?
We will traverse some of the classic rocky ridges in Snowdonia and show you how to travel safely and how to protect yourself and your scrambling partner on rock steps, descents, gullies and pinnacles. You will need previous summer hillwalking experience to get the most from this course. Topics that we cover include:

Route Finding on steep ground
Understanding and using the scrambling guidebooks and grading system
Movement skills on steep ground
Safeguarding rock steps, descents, gullies and pinnacles

Venues include The Snowdon Horseshoe, The North Ridge of Tryfan, The Glyders and some of the less known rocky ridges dependant upon the weather. We run the course on a 1:3 ratio to ensure you get maximum learning and safety. Snowdonia is an ideal base as it offers a wide range of scrambles from gullies to exposed ridges and many finish on or close to summits to give a true mountain experience. Having the ability to follow the scrambling routes also means you will often avoid the crowds on the main paths - a definite bonus!

This course is a great preparation for our own advanced scrambling course, which takes you onto Grade 2 and 3 scrambles, or for people looking at tackling some of the classic Grade 1 scrambles under their own steam.

Where is the course held?
We run the course in Snowdonia. We have a wealth of historic mountain scrambles to choose from that are all easily accessable with relatively short walk-ins.

What about accommodation?
We do not include accommodation with this course. For a variety of different accommodation options in Snowdonia, from camping to nice hotels, visit this link.
