Your booking is with Johnsons Expedition Guides LLP. Company Number: OC300151
These apply to every person booked onto a course. If booking on behalf of a third party you accept these terms on their behalf and so it is important that you make them aware. Expeditionguide Gift Vouchers are accepted as a method of payment but course bookings are still subject to these terms and conditions.
1. FEES
1.1. All brochure course fees are exempt of VAT.
1.2 All places must be reserved by us receiving a completed booking form and full payment or £100 deposit.
1.3 The balance of the fee is payable 8 weeks prior to the commencement of the course. In the event that the balance is not paid we will have the discretion to treat the booking as cancelled by the client and re-sell the course place.
1.4 The whole course fee is required to reserve a place for any booking made within 8 weeks of the commencement of the course.
1.5 The course fee is for the dates specified on your booking form. We cannot amend the dates once you have been allocated a course space. If you cannot attend the course this will be treated as a cancellation.
2 CANCELLATION BY CLIENT
2.1 All cancellations must be in writing
2.2 Johnsons (expeditionguide.com) once notified by letter or facsimile transmission of the cancellation will use its best endeavours to re-sell the course place(s).
2.3 In the event that the course is resold prior to the commencement of the course, the client will receive a full refund less 20% of the course fee to cover administration costs.
2.4 Refunds will only be made after the start date of the course has commenced.
2.5 For UK courses (For overseas expeditions see 2.6 below): In the event that the course is not resold prior to the commencement of the course, the client will be charged the following cancellation fees:-
2.5.1 60% of the total paid where cancellation takes place up to 8 weeks prior to the commencement of the course;or
2.5.2 75% of the total course fee where cancellation takes place less that 8 weeks before the commencement of the course;or
2.5.3 90% of the total course fee where cancellation takes place within the final 2 weeks before the commencement of the course.
2.6 For overseas expeditions: In the event that the client cancels an overseas expedition a refund will only be given if that expedition space can be resold. We reserve the right to cover administration costs as set out in 2.3 and also reserve the right to pass on any cancellation charges incurred through third parties.
3 CANCELLATION BY Johnsons (expeditionguide.com)
3.1 Whilst every attempt is made to ensure that advertised courses actually run, Johnsons (expeditionguide.com) will notify the client of cancellation as soon as practicable where it believes on reasonable grounds that cancellation is necessary due to dangerous and/or unsuitable conditions for the course activity.
3.2 Johnsons (expeditionguide.com) shall notify the client of cancellation not less than five days prior to the commencement of the course where numbers as a result of client (s) cancellation failed to reach a workable minimum for the commencement of the course.
3.3 Cancellation by Johnsons (expeditionguide.com) does not affect a client's right to a refund of travel costs that he/she may have incurred prior to the cancellation and since lost except in the circumstances set out in clauses
3.1 and 3.2
3.4 In the event of cancellation clients will be offered the choice of the following options:-
3.4.1 Full refund of the course fee paid;
3.4.2 Another course on different dates.
3.5 Cancellation of overseas trips due to foreign office advice - in the event that the Foreign Office warns specifically against travel to an expedition destination then we have the right to cancel your trip without paying compensation to you. The expedition will then be offered at an alternative date but we are not obliged to offer a refund of the course fee.
4 SAFETY & PARTICIPATION STATEMENT
Climbing and mountaineering are activities with a danger of personal injury or death. By booking a course in these activities you are aware of and accept these risks and will be responsible for your own actions and involvement. We will teach you how to manage these risks but we can never completely remove them. You confirm that you are familiar with the nature of the activities that you wish to undertake and acknowledge those risks that are inherent therein and that you may freely withdraw from any activity without penalty and there is no pressure whatsoever to take part.
5 INSURANCE & LOSS
Our courses do not include any personal accident, cancellation, third party liability or personal injury insurance. We recommend that you take out your own policy and have a list of recommended insurers on our website. We will accept no responsibility whatsoever in respect of loss or damage to personal property. |
