Huws tales of crisp neve and blue skies were sufficiently inspiring to see us head over to the Cairngorms ourselves today on the winter skills course. We walked into the Northern Corries and sure enough we found vastly different conditions to those on the West. Manageable amounts of snow, nice firm neve and the much promised blue skies and sunshine! We did a bit of sliding around looking at ice axe arrest and then enjoyed a traverse of the easiest line of Fiachaill Ridge, over Stob Coire ant-Sneachda and down the ridge from 1141. A truly lovely day.
