For the final day of the winter skills week we headed back to Glencoe and climbed Stob Coire nan Lochain. Plan A had been to do a traverse of the mountain but a lack of an established track put paid to that idea as there is still a massive amount of unconsolidated fresh snow. We were able to reach the summit via the West Ridge though and got the full monty of neve, crust, white out and a fresh breeze! As we descended there was fresh debris from a cornice collapse into the Coire. It is all set to change in the weekends weather forecast with a thaw tomorrow and re-freeze from Sunday which will open up more travel options again with any luck.
