This week Huw and I have been joined by Martin (from last week) Richard and Brian who have all done our winter skills course and are now with us to progress onto mountaineering ground. With the weather and avalanche forecasts looking better in the East we drove across to the Cairngorms and enjoyed a fine morning followed by a wild afternoon. Martin and I started off on Aladdins Couloir before climbing 4 pitches of Another Unnamed Groove that was about grade II (the guidebook gives it a III) and allowed me to place all of my ice screws! (I was only carrying two). Another great day although we will get a reputation if we keep going East!
