Project Description

Private Guiding in Snowdonia

Location: Snowdonia, North Wales
Price: £225 per day
Ratio: 1:1 to 1:6 depending upon the activity
Length: To suit you
We have a limited amount of time each month for private guiding.

Some of the advantages are:
– You choose the date – just call or email to arrange dates
– You choose the activity – you can mix and match perhaps going climbing one day and
navigating the next
– You spend your time with friends that you know
– You can do specific routes or peaks
– You can learn specific new skills or train for specific objectives

Our dates do get booked up pretty quickly so if you have a date in mind please give us as much notice as possible. It is not unusual to be booked up 6-9 months in advance.

How does it work?

We charge a daily rate. You decide what you want do in that day and share the cost with your friend(s).
Different activities require different ratios for safety – this affects how many people you can share the cost with. If I am unavailable I may be able to arrange for one of our instructors to take you out instead for the same price.

What can we offer?

Mountain skills & hillwalking
Mountain Biking
Rock Climbing
Technical Advice
Winter Skills
Winter Mountaineering & Climbing
Expedition Consultancy

We charge £225 per day for private guiding in Snowdonia from Monday to Friday. This is the cost per instructor, if you have a large group I can provide additional instructors, please email me for a quote. We don’t offer private guiding at weekends or outside of Snowdonia. Private guiding will be with Rob or Huw.

What about accommodation?

You will need to arrange your own transport and accommodation. In Snowdonia we recommend Plas Curig Hostel in Capel Curig. Formerly a YHA the hostel is now a family run business that has been extensively refurbished in 2011. You can choose single or bunk rooms dependant upon budget and you can self cater or choose to eat in or at one of the nearby pubs.

Who runs the course?

Private guiding is run by myself or by fellow instructor Huw, he also holds the MIC and is a really nice guy with stacks of experience, we have a very similar style. You can read more about our qualifications and experience on the about page.

Hi Rob
Thanks for lasts week’s excitement. Tracey and I had an absolutely great time. I think our work colleagues are fed up hearing about our adventures.
You covered all the things we wanted to “tick off” and got us leading a route in the rain too! I don’t think I’ll ever forget the exhilaration and satisfaction of the sea cliff at South Stack on such a windy day! Yet another successful holiday where I have had the mickey taken by the two of you all week. I’ve posted up some photos (although I have still got the videos to process).
Whilst the one of you in the storm shelter is a classic, the one of you giggling at South Stack is brilliant.

We’re already looking forward to our next marriage guidance holiday… 6 weeks to go!

Thanks again

Richard, Private Guiding - July, 2015
Hi Rob,
Just to say thank you for giving me such an amazing Five days climbing. I really feel I have progressed and gained in confidence, even if my body is battered! Huw took me to Angelsey today and we did three routes, ending with Shite Hawk Alley, one name I won’t forget! The weather just got better and better with not one drop of rain.
Hope you have a great weekend and already looking forward to scrambling in July.
All the best,
Julia, Private Guiding - May 2015
