TORRIDON – SUMMER MOUNTAINEERING WEEK
Location: Torridon, North West Scotland
Price: £675 per person
Length: 5 days
WHO IS THE COURSE SUITABLE FOR?
If you would like to take in some of the classic scrambles and summits of the North West of Scotland, then this Torridon Mountaineering course is the one for you. The mountains of the North West are unique, they rise up straight sided from the sea and offer some incredible ridge lines that we can enjoy – often completely to ourselves. You need to be happy with long days and on grade 2 and 3 ground. Our advanced scrambling course is ideal preparation for this trip.
WHAT DOES THE MOUNTAINEERING IN TORRIDON COURSE COVER?
We will take you on classic days out with options including An Teallach, Liathach Traverse, Suilven (we are happy to drive), Beinn Alligin and any of the other Munro summits or classic scrambles/rock climbs that you have your eye on. We will focus on as much mileage as possible on some of the best scrambles in the UK. I run the course myself and am joined by other instructors to keep the ratios small. This gives a nice sociable week and lots of options for different routes over the 5 days.
WHEN DOES THIS COURSE RUN?
You can view the dates of all of our courses throughout the year on the diary page.
WHAT ABOUT ACCOMMODATION?
We do not include accommodation with this course. We will base ourselves in the village of Gairloch and there is a wide range of accommodation options to suit all budgets from camping to hotels. If people want to share a house then we can put you in touch with other course members to keep costs down.
WHO RUNS THE COURSE?
I direct this course myself. I hold the MIC and IML qualifications and have many years of practical experience of working with a wide range of clients. I am also assisted by other local Mountaineering Instructors who are good friends of mine and the whole course is run at a 1:2 ratio. You can read more about my qualifications and experience on the about us page.
“Morning Rob – Our week in Torridon was simply amazing. It had every ingredient possible to ensure a truly memorable outing to this stunningly beautiful part of Scotland was had by all. From demanding terrain and challenging high level ridges to wonderful scrambling, all against a backcloth of previously unimaginably sublime scenery; what more could one ask for? Well perhaps a little less rain, of biblical proportions, on a couple of the days, would have been preferable but hey ho, we were in North West Scotland! Whilst between us we managed to climb Beinn Alligin, Ruadh-stac Beag on Beinnn Eighe and traverse the mighty ridges of Liathach and Al Teallach, Friday’s trip to successfully tackle the West Spur of Meall Ceann Na Creige at Diabeg, with a wave drenched sea level boulder hopping start to the more serious scrambling was so much fun; and the exhilarating high level views over to Skye were to die for…..well perhaps not…. but oh so special. The daily itinerary you, Huw and Sandy put together had all the elements to make certain our enjoyment was a given; and to top it all, Rachel, Dave, Marion, Martin and Tim were a terrific bunch of individuals with whom to share this fabulous week. Great to have shared the experience with you all. Thank you.”
