Crib Lem, snowdonia

Crib Lem (Llech Ddu Spur), Carnedd Dafydd, Snowdonia scrambles

Grade: 1
Area: Carneddau
Aspect: North East

Summary: The Crib Lem (also known as the Llech Ddu Spur) is a lovely grade 1 ridge scramble that finishes on the summit of Carnedd Dafydd. The walk in from Bethesda is beautiful up the Afon Llafar and the setting feels remote and peaceful by Snowdonia standards. The route is never too difficult but you can choose harder lines for more sport and the classic “Christmas Tree Slab” makes for a great photo!

Guidebook Description of crib lem:

The following is an extract from North Wales Scrambles, published by Cambrian Printers and written by Garry Smith.

“A top drawer scramble in a dramatic mountain setting. The route follows a devious path to gain the crest of a striking ridge, which is perched above Cwm Llafar; a long secluded valley with a feeling of wildness that is unsurpassed anywhere in Wales. The scrambling is exposed but always easy and on reliable rock.”
